CHALK THE WALK ARTSPLOSION
The 4th annual Chalk the Walk ARTsplosion affords all artists and wanna-be artists the opportunity to be expressive in a medium that people of all ages can relate to! And the boardwalk is the perfect canvas for chalk drawings set against the rhythmic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.

EAST COAST SURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS
ECSC is North America's Oldest Running Surfing Competition and the second oldest continuously-run surfing contest in the world. More than 100 of the world's top professional surfers, male and female, and an estimated 300 amateur surfers will travel to Virginia Beach to "ride the curl" at the Oceanfront and compete for combined cash prizes of $40,000. Held annually in Virginia Beach, Virginia since 1963, ECSC is more than just surfing. Dozens of people also take part in other competitions including skimboarding, volleyball, an oceanfront 5K run, a swimsuit competitions, and the extreme sport of skateboarding. SOUL MUSIC BEACHFEST
Soul Music Beachfest brings together sand, surf, and music for a weekend of soulful exploration. Against the rhythmic background of the Atlantic Ocean, music lovers explore the African origins of today's diversified music genres of soft rock, jazz, Latin, and R & B. This two-day festival focuses on local, regional, and national entertainment, food, activities, and ethnic arts and crafts. Vendors display an amazing array of ethnic merchandise. Bring your beach towel or chair, and get prepared to embrace the essence of Soul at this free event!

ROCK 'N' ROLL HALF MARATHON
Over 17,000 runners descent on the Virginia Beach oceanfront for this 13.1-mile race. Participants compete for the largest half-marathon prize purse in the United States. With a course that's fast, flat and fun, the Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon has become a must run event for thousands of racers. A post-race concert act on the 5th Street Stage tops off the fun-filled day.

AMERICAN MUSIC FESTIVAL
The American Music Festival will take place over Labor Day weekend with
over 40 bands rockin' the oceanfront. While strolling down the picturesque
boardwalk, stop to take in some of the groovy tunes at one of several free
stages set up along the beach. Ticketed events also will be taking place

BLUES AT THE BEACH
You won’t be “singing the blues” at this casual yet spirited festival that fills the oceanfront air with the riveting sounds of one of the most cherished musical styles of all time! Blues at the Beach brings together the best local, regional, and national Blues performers for a celebration of sight, sound, and music that comes from the soul! A highlight of the weekend is the Blues Cruise on the beautiful Virginia's Jewel yacht on Friday night. Tickets will go on sale in August for this one-of-a-kind midnight cruise! Learn musical techniques for playing blues music at FREE workshops offered Saturday and Sunday right in the park at 24th Street!

Sample authentic German beer as the part at the 24th Street is transformed into a two-day festival celebrating everything that is German.
